A complaint sent off to Moon Club of Dlouhá 709/26 – poor English – a disgrace

Dear Moon Club at Dlouhá 709/26,

I am an educated British woman who originated from Southern England and I must tell you that, on your Facebook advertisement about the Latino Night event every Thursday in Prague, you used wrong English punctuation. You should have written and published “THURSDAYS” without any apostrophe, but you made such a mistake of writing “THURSDAY’S”, a mistake that even a child of 7-8 years old knows how to avoid as even a child can write things like “You can go to Moon Club on Thursdays, if you like” and “I have tennis lessons on Fridays”. It is also fine to write “Tuesdays are bad days for me, for some reasons.” There is no apostrophe, unless you want to say something like “Thursday’s highlight is a drink called Havana Martini.” It is basic English. You did not even sort out your basic English? This is disappointing, Moon Club Dlouhá 709/26. This is gravely disappointing, I am afraid, I regret to say to you.

How do you do your business? Can you go do some work, please? Advertisements written in wrong English (spelling/ punctuation) make me feel silly, I feel like an idiot, so I do not want to sign up to a dancing session at your Moon Club, as that would make me feel like an idiot, and, I don’t want to be an idiot. I am a woman of civilization, the nobility of humankind, I am not a woman of trashy nonsense. At least, I do not get basic English punctuation wrong. It’s a pity, I like your Moon Club business logo, and your website seems to have beautiful photographs on it. Can you please go and fix your broken English as soon as possible?

How much money did you pay Facebook to advertise the dancing? What is the point in your business paying Facebook X amount of money to advertise the dancing, only to lose more than half of the money as potential customers-dancers don’t want to come, they would rather go elsewhere and be subjected to normal English? My friends in Prague have spending power, just like me, and, they also will not tolerate wrong English punctuation. It is never acceptable at work, and, they don’t like it either in their leisure time. That’s a disgrace, they say no to it. Are you fond of wasting money then? Is it your company policy to waste money? Is it your corporate policy to waste your own advertising time, to kill your own efficiency?

Please sort yourself out. Please respect literacy, education, and the English language.

You can, of course, pay me or pay someone like me, to do all the proofreading work for you in English- fees are cheap, we make your English 100% accurate. So, it’s good for grabbing more customers, if that is what you want.

Hi, I am writing to submit a formal complaint against: Promote Shetland, NB Communication Ltd, Stewart Building, Esplanade, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0LL, for an inaccuracy I can see on their website. On their webpage: https://www.shetland.org/blog/grey-seal-pups

we can see a problem. Please go to the “Otter Watching” section. There is the English sentence “Along some stretches of coastline, which I have been studying for over twenty years I have taken great pride in learning their movements, feeding area’s, holts and tracks. ” And obviously the apostrophe should not be there. It should be “areas”, not “area’s”. This is so silly. To write and publish “feeding area’s” is ridiculous like saying that “yesterday, my neighbour Joanna gave me apple’s, pear’s, banana’s, plum’s, and peanut’s”. I find the sloppy, unprofessional work of NB Communication Ltd in Lerwick, Shetland to be very disappointing indeed. It is a disgrace. Did employees of NB Communication fall asleep at their work desks? I can only imagine that management is bad there.

They are misleading the public about English punctuation. They failed to publish decent content according to professional standards of media industries. They damage the image/ brand of UNESCO. Many people are young kids at school and they are confused about when to use the apostrophe, when not to use the apostrophe. I fear that NB Communication and the Promote Shetland website are lowering standards of literacy in England, Wales, and beyond. This lack of professionalism and ridiculous use of English punctuation is damaging people. This is making readers of websites less competent at using the English language. It is going to result in more and more people who use the apostrophe when they should not use any apostrophe. And then people go and miss the apostrophe when it is necessary for them to use the apostrophe. “The area’s three beautiful lakes are often talked about among locals.” This dire mess, this chaos is ultimately going to damage businesses, the quality of staff that companies can get hold of, then it is going to damage the economy, society more broadly. What gives NB Communication Ltd the right to be so negligent, so irresponsible?  Please process my complaint and let me know about the outcome.

Does your organisation routinely impose a financial penalty upon the publisher of a website that produced inaccurate content? Wrong spelling or punctuation, stating so-called facts that turn out to be untrue, English sentences that got into a twisted mess that are not making any sense… …

A household in Prague is low on manpower- let’s watch MasterChef Junior

Among friends, we are talking about this. Our friend is a single parent with two children. There isn’t enough help to get all the cooking and cleaning done, as the father is working full-time and there is no mother.

“Show Music” spelled English words wrong, on YouTube

We sent the following email to Disney:

Dear Disney
I have to report to you that in this YouTube video, the English word ‘obedient’ is spelled wrong. They wrote ‘obediant’, but, the correct spelling is ‘obedient’.

This is a mistake. It is so bad. What gives “Show Music” the right to spell this English wrong and damage the reputation of Disney? I feel most disappointed in the lack of professionalism. “Show Music” is supposed to publish decent content, but they fail.
Should I report this error to some kind of broadcasting authority or agency that will maybe impose a penalty notice to ‘Show Music’ for the violation of English? I think it is a disgrace. Can you please eradicate these English words such as ‘obdediant’ that do not even exist, as soon as possible? Sadly I think ‘Show Music’ is moronic and they did not even check their work before the work went out. What the hell is that about? Are the employees of ‘Show Music’ lazy? They fell asleep at work?
Please take action to rectify this and please respond to me as soon as possible, ideally within 21 days. Thank you for your attention, have a nice day.
